Yemi Alade defends Beyonce | Cupcakke vs Sukihana | Lil Wayne SELLS out Young Money

UPDATE: So the reports I read on RevoltTv and MusicBusinessWorld about Lil Wayne selling Nicki and Drake's individual masters may have been incorrect. Currently there hasn't be a clear specification on what Young Money catalogs Lil Wayne sold, but it's possible that Lil Wayne may have sold Young Money's collaborative projects...not their individual projects. Reports say Nicki and Drake claimed to own their masters...and that might be very well true. Once again the specifics haven't been put out there, but I am relieved to know that Wayne isn't dumb enough to sell Drake's and Nicki's solo masters. I will make a follow up video clearing this up! Sorry for the for the mixed up information!

  • "Some people thought she was appropriating the African culture"... will that some people be Tiwa Savage 😶😶😶 she's known for wanting all the attention and stirring up controversy. Beyonce has done more for African artists than any so called female African artist. How many times have you seen ANY FEMALE artist feature on the same stage as Tiwa? NEVER! ABEG FREE THE BABE JARE

  • This Wayne situation is sad. Black folks never wanna own shit. Do it all for the white folks I guess? Make no damn sense to me.

    lxrlxrOy oldin
  • But she IS appropriating African culture though. Like yeah she’s Black. But she’s not African. Yes, due to the fact that she is black, it can be pretty easily assumed that she has African heritage in her ancestry. However. She’s from Texas. Her parents are from the USA. She is a Texan lady from the South. Is she appropriating? Yes. Do I think she should be cancelled or what the fuck ever? No. I compare it to my experience in that, I was born in Jamaica, immigrated to Canada (Toronto, to be exact) when I was 14. It’s a ‘cool’ thing amongst the people here to appropriate Jamaican culture, most notably our Jamaican patois. Including black folk who Are Not Jamaican. Sure, yes, they are black. But that doesn’t make what you’re doing okay and give you a pass for how you bastardize my dialect/accent. And doing it because it’s ‘cool’ and because you’re black you bet a free pass? News flash; you don’t. You can’t just don a culture when you want to profit and then leave it when you’ve ~ evolved artistically ~ on the next album. And that is what Beyoncé is doing. Though she does make an actual effort to include African artists, so I give her credit for that. But this is still appropriation.

  • I love how some black Americans can get particular with other groups of people about cultural appropriation. They say that others can't just use their culture without acknowledging the history, pain, sweat and tears behind it. But when it comes to representing Africa. They forget you can't just present the culture and forget about the people behind it. But nevertheless, aside from a few twitter comments (which other Africans knocked out themselves), I don't see where the Africans hate/ban this... is coming from.

  • Being able to trace ur ancestors back to Africa and being African is 2 different things!! Same way Africans are black but they may not share the exact experience/struggle as a black American /afro Latina in South America. There is things unique to those identities that none of the other groups can share... So Africans have a right to feel the way they feel about THEIR culture... Black Americans have their own culture like kwanzaa and jumping the broom etc and of course if they felt some type of way about those things being used in a certain way then it's within their rights... Learn to respect people's feelings it may seem trivial to you but important to someone else!! And it's not just about the tour... Kevin Hart, rihanna even justin beiber have toured in Africa to sold out shows and they don't even claim Africa. So they just expect a little more I guess... from someone who is using their culture in her work as extensively as Beyoncé did

  • Okay so African Americans are of African descent that is our culture. I hate when Africans get mad over this hard truth like they jealous or something. Really we have our own history from music, art, fashion, swag, and strength. We have our own culture from rap to r n b, poetry, history. A lot of African Americans were and still are inventors, scientists, musician, artist, and leaders throughout time. Africans really think we appropriating like we have no culture what so ever. Don’t act like there are no African rappers and singers that strive to be like us. A culture that was derived from our culture. We acknowledge our African history because it was stolen from us centuries ago. My ancestors were the slaves of the President Andrew Jackson and he did everything in his power to hide who he even purchased my 6x great grandmother from because he was purchasing slaves with presidential checks way pass his presidency. So we as African Americans do not appropriate a culture just to appropriate. We acknowledge African culture in order to get our power back the white man stole from us centuries prior. Get over yourselves and realize it’s a bigger plan at work here! 👏🏾🙌🏾✊🏾✌🏾
